Dealing with apps they all have their utility and they all bring happiness. Unfortunalty most of the apps that are used to waste time. For example; instagram, facebook, and candy crush. Some may argue that they are used to maintain contact with others, but they aren't being used for a educational stand point.
Utility and happiness go hand and hand. I think Utility comes first and the happiness follows. If an app makes your life better, or smoother than it makes us happy. If companies focus on making apps that benefit us then we are happy.

The Zing
About one year ago a terrorist attack occurred during the Boston Marathon. Three people were killed and about 264 were injured. During this chaotic mess how were people receiving news? Was it all true or was it falsified information?
Brooke Gladstone interviewed, Alex Goldman, he was listening to a police scanner and tweeting everything that he heard during the bombing. Alex said, “he made some mistakes…” Alex sent out false information, and that he wish he could have gone back and fixed his errors”. He did what he did because of the, “adrenaline rush”. (the interview with Alex)
We all get caught up in the “zing of authenticity”. The rush to find out new information that know one knows about. It’s definitely exciting to find out something new but, we need to watch what we say. Unfortunately only 20 percent of tweets during this horrendous event were reported to be true. Think about all of those people being mislead, and the different emotions that they had to deal with.
I don’t believe it is okay to give falsified information, talking about people's safety. I mean come on, people were dying. I don’t believe this is something to lie about. This was a terrorist attack it wasn’t a joke! (a moment of silence one year later)
If you are tweeting about something effecting an entire country. In my opinion if you aren’t completely sure about the information you better be hastanging #unconfirmed #rumor #notsure … I think it is sad knowing that many people were so mislead, over and lied to about a tragic terrorist attack.
Benefits to the zing
- we can find out about news instantly
- it can be fun, and create new conversations
- it can keep us informed
Harms of the zing
- its can mislead people from the truth
- example, Boston Marathon bombing
- it potentially could cause wars, and riots.
The “zing” potentially can bring joy to us. It can be exciting, knowing something new! But the true question is it true? Could what you tweet potentially hurt someone? Is posting something false worth it? That is up to you! It is up to you to decide if that post is worth it. I hope everyone out there, can put on their critical thinking caps. This falsified information is destroying our world! What are you putting out there is it worth it?

The Drought from Technology
The average American uses technology 24/7. We are covered in it, and we don't even notice. The average American spends 3.2 hours a day on social networks, and check their phone 110 times per day. I personally believe those statistics don't apply to me. I think I am half of what the average is, but I replace those hours using technology elsewhere.
My job requires me to use technology constantly. I have kind started doing little film projects around the state. The applications that really make my job easier: Google Drive, and Dropbox. These have been a great tool for me to use. These applications allow me to work with people in other cities, its great!
My fast from technology occurred over spring break, and I will say it was hard. Just the torturous feeling not being able to do what I love. I love taking pictures, videoing, and more. These things all involve technology. I rely on my phone to wake me up in the morning, and I rely on technology to help pay my bills.
Luckily for the fast I did it on the weekend from Saturday to Sunday. I took a little journey to Zion, the entire time I was there I wanted to take pictures. I knew for this assignment I had to remove technology from my life so I left my camera at home. I spent most of the day hiking, so when I got home I was exhausted. When I got home I was able to just read a little and go to bed. My Sunday was a great day I spent a lot of time just sleeping.
I was happy to get my technology back. It did feel good to get away just because my phone gives me stress. If I ever need a break I know I can just turn off my phone.

The New Teleportation
Convergence
Description how the car drives itself
How many hours a week do you spend driving? How far away does your family live from you? How much time is being wasted in a car because you have to drive? Luckily here in the near future we will have cars that will be able to drive themselves. According to CBS News it will only cost an extra 5,000- 7,000 thousand dollars to have to option of auto pilot. It is predicted that 75% of the worlds car will have the option to drive itself in 2035.
Consumerism
I find this video to be a prime example of how the average Americans day is. We are "go go go" meaning we don't stop until we lay our head down on our mattress. If every one in the world had a car that drove itself, we all would have more time on our hands. While we are driving to work women could do their make up, and men could shave. We all would sleep a little more and life would be great.
Unfortunately right when this car is released to all of its consumers it won't have the ability to drive in harsh weather conditions. If you find it challenging to drive in harsh conditions. I highly encourage you to stay off the road during these conditions.
Interactivity
For those people that drive a high performance car. Don't you worry, you will still be able rev your engine and push that engine to the limits. These cars have the option for auto drive or manual driving. You will also have the option to lay that seat back at night when you can barely stay awake. At that moment you will have to put your trust in technology and hope that it doesn't fail. Nothing has been released stating that we can't sleep behind the wheel. Wheel will have to see what happens what laws are released when this technology becomes more popular and affordable.
Good/Bad Things about cars driving themselves
Good Things
- More time complete business calls
- If you are driving long distances you can sleep
- Texting and driving is no longer and issue
- Less car accidents
Bad Things
- People will rely more on technology then they already do
Conclusion
I believe this technology is erecting for two reasons. First reason; People are wanting to open more time up in there schedules. Second reasons; People want to make transportation safer. I can agree to my second reason. I think it is important to make the road safer, driving can be scary. My first reason If this is the case I hope they are spending their time wisely, and educating themselves. For an example: Everyday a doctor has his car drive him to work. The doctor sits on his phone and watches past videos of surgeries he has performed in the past. So the next time he performs the surgery he performs it better. I hope people went fill more of there time up playing video games while driving to work, or reading useless information.
I'm excited for this technology. I currently live three hundred and sixty miles away from my family. I can't wait to be able to sit in my car lay my sit back, and wake up at my house in Brigham City. It would almost be like a teleportation device. You go to sleep and wake up in a new location. It will save us time but will you trust the technology? That is were we have to decide is this to much or is it making our lives more convenient?

How Social Media has Impacted the Fight For Marriage Inequality
I believe that public opinion has been heavily influenced through social media. I know when this symbol started going around Facebook, it went viral. This is a symbol that represents the support of gay marriage. I think many people did not support gay marriage at first, but the moment they saw their friend supporting gay marriage, they felt they had to join the band wagon, and one second later they started supporting gay marriage (evidence backing my opinion). A couple weeks after, I began to see this symbol (the symbol at the bottom) fighting right back at the fight of gay marriage. At this point I feel like it was to late and the fence sitters at that point had already made their decision.
Technological Determinism has a huge impact on people's beliefs and values. The role of technological determinism has increased because of the access to phones. It gives them the capability to access their social media. In the early 90's the internet was introduced and social media didn't exist. People had to watch T.V at certain times to hear the news. People didn't have access to verify that what was on the news was really true. They had to assume it was true because there wasn't a source to help them find the real truth. Now, where people always have access to their mobile devices, a lot of people don't know what their values and beliefs are.
Because of the access people had to social media, the moment that these people hit the internet the internet starts to influence them. People start to change their values and beliefs because of what they see on the internet, and what their friends post. People are relying heavily on social media for their news, jobs, and just to maintain contacts with people. I have heard people getting jobs because of social media sites such as Facebook and Linkedin. So what people are starting to do is read and believe what is in front of their faces.
I think the fight for gay marriage that started on Facebook was one of the biggest influences on the fight for gay marriage. Please Study out things and don't let one little small thing change your belief, do a lot of research then make your decision!

App Review on Pheed
Home Page
Pheed is just like any other social media app full of pictures, and the ability to see whats going on in other peoples lives.Signing up for was simple you download the app and it links through your Facebook. After you have subscribed to you people that you find interesting this is what the home page looks like. It shows who posted what, the time, their thought, the content, who has liked it. Pheed allows you to comment on the content, like, dislike, or to share the Pheed that was posted.

Discover
There are man different ways that Pheed allows you to link with more people. Through the discover tab you can see whats trending. Pheed can find things that you might like and suggest them to you. Other than through the search of hash tags Pheed has created a new section called categories.
News
Just like like everything else out there, Pheed shows you the different things that are happening to your Pheed, such as people subscribing to you, or people liking your Pheed.
Likes/Dislikes
Something that i really enjoyed about Pheed was the fact that you could listen to music on it and find out more about other artist. I also like the idea of different categories. Down fall to Pheed is, not alot of people are using it. The post to the right with the girl was under the category selfie and its been up for a couple of days and she was the 3rd Pheed down. Its not being updated fast enough. Overall I think that Pheed was an attempt to combine sound-cloud, instagram, twitter, tumblr, into one giant app. I think the idea is great but wasn't excuted well enough. The app doesn't run smoothly, and its very unorganized.
What I think could make it better
I think Pheed would be a better app if it was easier to like and dislike the content posted. If you could left swipe for dislike and right swipe for liking it would make surfing through content faster and more enjoyable. If you could actually have library of the content that you produced and post ti would make Pheed more organized, and user friendly. Currently everything gets pushed into your Pheed even if you are sharing something that someone else posted.
Conclusion
Overall I think the idea of Pheed is awesome, but the app should have gone through more testing before it was released. I probably won't keep my Pheed for much longer the content isn't being updated enough and its hard to manage content that I post. Sorry Pheed I wish you would have functioned better.
